What is NAMPO?

For our first-timers, NAMPO Harvest Day is an annual agricultural exhibition hosted by Grain SA. It is one of the largest global events of its kind and features cutting-edge agricultural technologies and innovations from around the world. This event offers an exceptional opportunity for farmers, agricultural specialists, and other industry professionals to stay informed about the latest trends and advancements in agriculture. It also provides the general public with valuable insights into the agricultural sector and its significance to the South African economy.

When and where

2023 NAMPO Harvest Day will take place from 16 to 19 May 2023 at NAMPO Park, Bothaville. The venue is located just off the N1 highway, making it easy to reach from all corners of South Africa. It is also close to a number of other attractions, including the Free State National Botanical Garden and the Bothaville Dam.

This year’s theme, ‘Agriculture Innovated’, emphasises the vital role of Harvest Day and its contributions to the future of agriculture. This year’s NAMPO will highlight the latest agricultural technology, machinery, innovations, and efficiency solutions, so visitors can expect an exciting experience at this event.

In a bid to maintain NAMPO's status as the foremost platform and marketplace for innovation, technology, information exchange, and discussion in the agricultural sector, Grain SA has undertaken the task of expanding and enhancing the venue and programme for the 2023 NAMPO Harvest Day.

Dr Dirk Strydom, Grain SA’s NAMPO, Marketing and Research Development Lead, said the following. “NAMPO plays an important role in developing the agricultural sector by providing a successful environment for businesses and producers to interact and do business. It gathers all Agri-role players which present their products and services in the areas of production, machinery, food-processing, inputs as well as other products and services related to the sector. NAMPO is also the place where producers meet and the only trade show that brings together agricultural solutions for all types of farms and crops.”

• New coffee bar at Gate 2 with a relaxed lounge atmosphere for coffee lovers.
• Relocated delicatessen stalls to NAMPO Padstal, offering fresh and tasty treats.
• Expanded NAMPO food stalls benefiting non-profit organisations like schools, churches, and community groups.
• Exclusive restaurant in Fanie Ferreira Hall for exhibitors to reserve tables for client discussions.
• Relocated AFGRI Ladies' programme for better visibility, featuring fun-packed mornings with well-known personalities such as Chris Else, Mynhardt Joubert, and Willem Botha.

• 4x4 vehicle demonstrations on the Standard Bank 4x4 track and Adventure Track for side-by-side, motorcycle, and quad trails.
• Well-known Farmer's Patent Competition with Omnia & Landbouweekblad, featuring different divisions for entry.
• Seed plots on the eastern side of the park, showcasing grain, feed crops, and grass varieties from leading South African seed companies.
• Nation in Conversation discussion forum, gathering agricultural sector role players to address local and international issues.
• Live-streamed discussions filmed during NAMPO, accommodating approximately 80 audience guests.
• Livestock division featuring cattle, sheep, pigs, and goats, representing nearly 100% of large- and small-stock breeds, as well as miniature horses.
• Daily livestock exhibitions at the TAU Livestock arena, adhering to standard foot and mouth disease protocols.

Finding your way around NAMPO 2023

To help visitors navigate the expansive NAMPO Park grounds, a variety of transportation options are available. Media partner OFM will broadcast live from NAMPO Park, featuring a dedicated Agri hour at 11:00 and traffic updates throughout the day for safe travel to and from the event.

The "Mieliehop" shuttle service operates daily between NAMPO and Bothaville, providing long-distance shuttles from OR Tambo airport and surrounding towns. For air travellers, the Absolute Aviation airport lounge on the northern side offers a shuttle service to Gate 3. Within the park, nine tractor trailers follow different routes to make getting around easier on visitors' feet.

Get your tickets

Tickets can be purchased from TicketPro, with discounted entry fees available for online purchases. Gates open at 07:00 and close at 17:00. Route directions and private airstrip information can be found on the website and the NAMPO app. Please note that pets, bicycles, self-propelled carts, and motorcycles are not permitted on the premises. Complimentary transport carts will be available, following three different routes on the grounds throughout the day.
