NAMPO Kaap/Cape 2024 Recap and the AgriMag eMag

NAMPO Cape 2024, held from September 11-14 in Bredasdorp, Western Cape, successfully wrapped up its fifth annual expo, drawing a crowd of over 45 000 visitors. Organised by Grain SA in partnership with Bredasdorp Park NPC, the event showcased cutting-edge agricultural technology, machinery, and products, reinforcing its role as a key platform for industry professionals and farmers to connect.

Under the theme “Agriculture: The Backbone of Economic Growth,” the expo emphasised agriculture’s significant contribution to both local and global economies, as well as national food security. The event also provided a substantial economic boost to the Overberg District, generating more than 100 jobs and contributing between R15 million and R25 million to the region.

Exhibitor diversity and innovative programming were at the heart of NAMPO Cape 2024. Over 600 exhibits and a record-breaking 542 exhibitors displayed the latest advancements, including battery-powered vehicles showcased on a dedicated demonstration track. The expansion of exhibition space addressed growing demand, with an additional 38 stands. Highlights included the Sheepdog expo, hosted alongside the South African Sheepdog Association, the National Toyota Young Auctioneers Competition, and cultural performances such as the South African Lipizzaners and the Fynbos Festival. The expo also focused on youth engagement, with 500 students from 30 schools participating in hands-on learning experiences, culminating in the Overberg Regional Youth Show on the final day.

NAMPO Cape continues to be a key event for promoting rural development, social growth, and agricultural innovation, driving productivity and income for South African farmers. The 2024 edition successfully fostered networking and knowledge exchange, preparing the sector for future challenges and opportunities.
