Price ranging from R118 628 - R186 155 incl of vat Stone milling has been practiced since ancient times for the milling of grains and spices. New developments in milling techniques such as roller mills have been developed in the meantime – with higher capacities – but at the cost of lost nutrition – as roller mills separate the seed into separate parts – whereas the stone mill mills the entire seed – with no loss of nutritional value of the seed. The stone mill also mills much cooler than other milling techniques – which enables the germ in wheat, or the colour in spices to stay intact in the milling process – resulting in higher nutritional value, higher baking quality – and better spice colour from your milling process. The range of range of artisanal stone mills have been manufactured since 1925 in Denmark and with this experience, our stone mills provide excellent milling quality. T he horizontal stone mills are branded as branded as Stoneground 600 and 950 respectively and are standard items. Stone mills are ideal for the milling of spices, because of the low milling temperature, thus preventing discoloration and loss of flavor, and its ability to grind the product extremely fine. Many varied applications requiring fine milling with low oil and moisture content is routinely supplied, from macadamia nut shells to starch. Stone milling causes higher cell rupture to wheat flour allowing for higher absorption of moisture and thus tastier bread. As special health mills horizontal stone mills are routinely supplied with stone scourers and sifters. Very good quality fine flour can be obtained. Spelt (an ancient bronze age grain species related to wheat) milling in Europe is done entirely with stone milling systems. Currently the largest market in the world for stone mills is in Ethiopia, for the fine milling of teff. Stone milling is especially suited where dry products with low oil content have to be milled very finely. In the case of grain, a pass through a 160my screen can be as high as 95%. Stone mills offer low investment in equipment for fine grinding with low heat transfer to product and runs at low operational cost. Well suited for all grains and spices and can be applied to numerous other products. Product is normal discharged by means of an air transport system which increases capacity and retains a low milling temperature. All our stone mills are manufactured with stainless steel contact parts making it ideal for food processing as well as for grinding of corrosive products such as salt and some chemicals, pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals. All stone mills are fitted with the famous Danish Engsko mill stones – for superior lifespan and milling results.
